THE CARNEGIE UNIT/CREDITS: Students are awarded credit for classes on the basis of the Carnegie Unit. This defines a semester unit of credit as equal to a minimum of three hours of work per week (1 hour lecture plus 2 hours of homework OR 3 hours of lab/independent research) for 16 weeks. Since IOHS is a condensed 5-week online course, the Carnegie unit is measured by the hours required to complete the curriculum including studying the video lectures, preparation and completion of LABS, online simulator LABS and independent research.
